The Tang lab seeks to bridge the gap between homogeneous and heterogeneous catalysis. We carry out interdisciplinary studies to address the unsolved problems in organic synthesis, catalysis, materials and hydrogen energy storage. Particular emphases will be placed on the development of catalysts library based on rational design, which will allow us to build molecular complexity and chirality from simple feedstocks in an efficient, scalable and sustainable manner. In addition, we aim to employ small molecules as liquid hydrogen carrier, and realize hydrogen energy storage and release cycle under mild conditions. Tang lab members addressing these challenges will be trained in the fields of organic chemistry, physical chemistry, material synthesis and energy application.
